SEMINAR OVERVIEW

This single-day seminar will be taught online, via Zoom, with attendees receiving information related to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) from Claire Mayer — an autistic adult who has navigated EDS throughout their whole life. Combining textbook knowledge with lived experience, Claire will take students on a narrative journey that articulates their own experience of navigating EDS diagnosis, management, and all of the associated challenges — and victories — along the way to where they are now.

The course will be structured similar to other offerings created within the AutisticPsychedelic.com education ecosystem, beginning with a group check-in and introductions, followed by lecture, group discussion, and a concluding Q & A session.

For specifics, please see “What Will I Learn During This Seminar?” under the FAQ tab.

Meet Your Instructor…

Claire Mayer (they/them) received an autism diagnosis in late 2021. Not long afterwards, they became involved with the Autistic Psychedelic Community (APC) in order to understand more about their own autism and how psychedelics could be potentially therapeutic in easing associated symptoms and issues. After spending two years in community with the APC, Claire then took on a more facilitative role, supporting the APC’s mission of providing a critical space for autistic adults to share, learn, advocate, grow, and support one another.

Since joining the community, Claire has flourished and deepened their sense of community — all while developing a more defined sense of self, and a better understanding of the wide variety of neurodiverse brains and the accompanying needs within the community. Today, Claire is excited to assist in the organization’s progression so that even more neurodivergent folks can reap the benefits of such a wonderful community.

Claire has an academic and clinical background in veterinary medicine and chemistry.

A Word From APC Co-Founder, Aaron Orsini…

“I’ve had the pleasure of working in collaboration with Claire for some years now, and I’m always blown away by their patience, kindness, and passion for being of service to others. Claire has been a tremendous help to myself and many others within this community, and I’m proud to see them synethesizing the wisdom and information they’ve gleaned from their lived experience and general self-study. Claire has deep experience with navigating EDS, and has helped many within the group navigate their journeys with EDS just the same. Whether Claire is providing practical tips or offering a compassionate ear to those in need, they’ve proven, time and time again, to be a resource this community is so fortunate to have…”
